Charters Guitars is the lutherie work of Ry Charters (the person typing this). For the past 26 years, I’ve been a Luthier by trade. Most of that time I’ve hung my own shingle (recently Kal-Tone 2014-22) offering repair, my handmade guitars, and large scale restorations. The rest has been with other guitar companies/mentors building their instruments, handling their repairs, and learning the many various parts of the musical instrument business. In 2023, after limping on after the pandemic, I decided to close to the public, let go of the final employee, and stop taking any custom orders.

Now the focus is on only making fine instruments. My standard models are made in batches, when there’s time. Primarily, I work on developing my design ideas that have been on the back burners for a little too long.
